Easter
At our home we have been having many discussions about Easter lately. As a family we've been using the Resurrection Eggs to learn the Easter story, opening one egg each night. On top of that, Chloe has learned from her Sunday School teachers and her AWANA teachers about Easter. She is a very inquisitive girl who understands beyond her three years. (For example, one morning about a week after having witnessed us taking communion for the first time, Chloe woke me up by asking, "Mommy, you know the juice in the cup...that's supposed to be like Jesus' blood, right? Because He died for our sins on the cross..." I woke up fast that day!) Anyway, the other day, with no prompting or help from me, Chloe sat down at her desk and colored. When she was finished she brought me this paper. As usual, I asked her to tell me about it.

"Here's where I spelled Easter, Mommy. See, ee-st-der." (Remember, no help from anyone here...let's just say elementary-school-teacher-Mommy was proud! ... There's a "T" in the middle that's kind of hard to see.)
"And on this side I drew the two fighters (soldiers -- near the top) who arrested Jesus. They are holding their swords. I put Jesus on there (near the Easter egg) and His cross (blue) and the two other crosses (purple). Then I put His tomb on there (brown circle). And an Easter egg." So cute! It's not really her best drawing but the content was pretty profound.

Oh my, Janna, that really is amazing! I am so very proud of Chloe. She is such a neat little kid! :)
Profound indeed. Amazing.
very impressive.
Wow, Chloe! I love the fact that things are starting to add up for our little ones.
Amazing! I'm pretty sure that we had 2nd graders who couldn't get that close to spelling "Easter"! :0)
WOW CHLOE!!Janna thank you so much for sharing this!!! One of the families from church that I sit for has two girls a year younger then Chloe that were asking me last week about Easter. The just turned 3 year old said," I KNOW about the bunny but what about Jesus He is more important!!" we dont give little ones enough credit in my book!!! I did some online searching and told the mom about the ressurection eggs and I shared with her today your story about Chloe, hoping it would help push her to get them for Her duaghters as well!!!!!!Hugs to everyone and HAPPY EASTER!!
